Data Sources
CostPressureIQ prioritizes reproducible public datasets that can be updated at national scale and mapped consistently across state, county, and city pages. This page exposes the current public source snapshot instead of treating data freshness as a backend-only detail.

Five PressureComponents per scored geography
States
52 scored snapshots from 52 loaded locations.
Counties
3,213 scored snapshots from 3,213 loaded locations.
Cities
31,254 scored snapshots from 31,254 loaded locations.
The current public score layer is ACS 2024-backed. ACS 2025 5-year metadata is not expected to appear until a later Census release, so the loaded 2024 snapshot remains the current national ACS-backed layer.
Primary Inputs
U.S. Census Bureau ACS 5-Year
Production score source for median household income, median gross rent, median real estate taxes, and owner-cost burden proxies across state and county geographies.
SimpleMaps US Cities
Production geography source used to normalize state, county, and city routes, parent relationships, coordinates, and population context.
Bridge Proxies
Currently represented through ACS owner-cost burden proxy and movement. It does not yet claim nationally consistent premium-level insurance data.
Currently represented through ACS gross-rent proxy and movement until utility-specific national rate data is added in a future model version.
Currently represented through gross-rent-to-income burden and movement, not separate grocery, healthcare, transportation, or childcare indexes.
Refresh Cadence
Geography tables are ingested from local source files and normalized to canonical state, county, and city route structures.
Cost pressure snapshots are rebuilt from ACS releases using repeatable ingestion scripts and a versioned methodology tag. The current loaded tag is v1-acs5-2024.
Census now requires an API key for data queries. Future ACS refresh runs should set CENSUS_API_KEY before rebuilding score snapshots; without it, refresh is explicitly blocked rather than silently failing.
Latest recorded run: acs5_cost_pressure_snapshots on 2026-02-26 with 207,114 records upserted. Details: as_of=2024-12-31; methodology=v1-acs5-2024; snapshots=34519; components=172595
